OUR SIGNATURE CREATIVE EXPERIENCE

Character Design

Imagine it. Create it. Make it yours.
Turn your ideas into an original character while exploring creativity, self-expression, storytelling, and discovering what excites you.

For children, teens, young adults, schools, and community organizations.

Turn Ideas Into Characters

In this hands-on workshop, participants use imagination to create an original character—developing its personality, strengths, interests, backstory, and design through drawing, writing, storytelling, and digital character creation.

As characters take shape, participants can also explore their character’s voice, what they like, what they need, the choices they make, their boundaries, and how they might ask for help or express themselves in different situations.

Guided by Chanel, participants make creative choices, express their ideas, and experience what happens when something they imagined becomes something real. The goal isn’t perfect art. It’s creating, expressing, building confidence, and discovering what parts of the creative process excite them.

CREATIVITY IN ACTION

Character Design is hands-on. Participants can explore ideas through drawing, writing, conversation, and digital character creation—using the creative methods that work best for them.

WHO IS CHARACTER DESIGN FOR?

This workshop is designed for:

Kids and teens who enjoy characters, drawing, stories, or imagination
Young adults exploring creativity, self-expression, and new interests
Schools and transition programs seeking inclusive creative enrichment
Homeschool communities looking for hands-on creative learning experiences
Nonprofits and community programs serving participants of all abilities

FROM IMAGINATION TO CREATION

Participants will:

  • Create an original character
  • Choose personality traits, strengths, interests, and other character details
  • Build a short backstory or character description
  • Explore their character’s voice, choices, preferences, and needs
  • Draw, write, or use visual supports to develop their ideas
  • Bring their character to life through digital character creation
  • Share or introduce their character in a supportive space, if they choose

Participants do not need to be “good at drawing” to join. There is no perfect character. What matters is creating, making choices, expressing ideas, and discovering what they enjoy.

CREATIVITY THAT BUILDS CONFIDENCE

Through character creation, participants can explore and practice:

Self-expression — sharing ideas, interests, and feelings in creative ways
Confidence — making choices and taking pride in something they created
Communication — describing characters, choices, ideas, and stories
Character exploration — exploring a character’s emotions, needs, choices, and experiences
Self-advocacy — exploring preferences, needs, boundaries, choices, and ways to communicate them

WHY WE START WITH CHARACTERS

Characters can make creativity, expression, and exploration feel more approachable.

Through a character, participants can explore strengths, interests, feelings, choices, needs, and challenges without having to begin by talking directly about themselves.

As they create, make decisions, tell stories, and express ideas, participants also have an opportunity to notice what parts of the creative process they enjoy most.

That is why Creative Talentz starts with characters. A character becomes the bridge from imagination to expression, confidence, and discovery.

Characters pull them in. Creativity helps them grow.
